| HENRI BENDEL |
| Just past the Manville mausoleum, turn right onto an access road and stop. Leave your car and walk several yards farther up Pocantico Avenue. On the right is a large monument with a bronze statue of a mourning woman dropping roses onto a granite pedestal. This sorrowful yet beautiful memorial belongs to fashion designer Henri Bendel (1868-1936). During his reign as the nation's foremost designer, Bendel's creations and opinions profoundly influenced what Americans wore. Among his clients were Geraldine Ferrar and Billie Burke, both of whom are buried at Kensico. |
