DESCRIPTION:The Friends of The Kensico Cemetery Tree and Landscape Tour will be offered to the public as a part of the Kensico Cemetery Arboretum’s Level II Arboretum designation and public programming! \nTree and Landscape Tour 1: Tuesday\, May 26th\, 2026(1.1 miles) \nOn this tour\, you will discover the wonders of the species that adorn their grounds and the intertwining of nature and history. Highlights include the battle against invasive species\, a 170-year-old oak\, and the enigma of “tree knees”.  This tour will be hosted by Mike Cook\, ISA Certified Arborist and Superintendent of Grounds at Kensico Cemetery. \nThe tours are free\, but reservations are required via the RSVP feature below. Please double check that you have selected the correct tour & date. \nDonations are appreciated and can be made online here or by check made out to Friends of The Kensico Cemetery\, Inc. \nDetails and Directions: Tour attendees should go to the Kensico Cemetery Administration Building where cars will be led to the starting point on the Kensico grounds. We do not recommend using Kensico’s address as a GPS locator. It will take you to our Maintenance Building on Lakeview. This year\, we continue their meaningful tradition of honoring the men and women who served our nation. \nJoin us for an afternoon of remembrance and reflection as we pay tribute to America’s veterans. \nThe service includes the raising of the American flag\, the placement of wreaths\, and guest speakers. DESCRIPTION:This tour is a Friends of The Kensico Cemetery Event. \nEnjoy a mash-up of music\, mystery\, and mausoleum stories during this free evening walking tour of The Kensico Cemetery grounds. \nOssipee Loop Tour 2: Thursday\, May 9th\, 2024. \nHighlights include a baseball legend and his boss; two inventors; a movie theatre mogul; a World’s Fair mystery; a controversial circus connection\, a scandalous scofflaw\, a Sentimental Gentleman\, a Broadway angel\, and one good witch. \nTours also point out one-of-a-kind mausoleums and statuary that contribute to Kensico’s unique landscape. \nThe tour guide is Patrick Raftery\, Associate Director/Librarian; Westchester County Historical Society\, and a board member of The Friends of Kensico\, Inc. \nThe tours are free\, but reservations are required via the RSVP feature below. Please double check that you have selected the correct tour & date.  \nDetails and Directions: Tour attendees should go to the Kensico Cemetery Administration Building where cars will be led to the starting point on the Kensico grounds. We do not recommend using Kensico’s address as a GPS locator. It will take you to our Maintenance Building on Lakeview. DESCRIPTION:Learn essential considerations and techniques for tree planting to cultivate your green thumb and learn more about reforestation. Kensico’s Superintendent of Grounds Mike Cook and Frank Molina of Davey Tree Experts will offer tips on positioning\, tree care\, soil\, and provide a comprehensive Sugar Maple tree planting demonstration on Kensico’s grounds. Come prepared with questions and wear comfortable shoes for a guided walk in The Kensico Cemetery Arboretum to the demonstration location. \n\n\nThis educational program is free and is being offered as part of Kensico’s recent achievement as a Level II Arboretum accredited by ArbNet\, but reservations are required via the RSVP function below. You will receive a confirmation email of your RSVP. \n\nDetails and Directions: Participants should follow the event directional signs at 273 Lakeview Avenue to get to the Maintenance Building on the property adjacent to the main Administration Building.
