Valhalla, NY –Friends of The Kensico Cemetery (‘Friends’) held their annual fall 5K Run/Walk fundraiser on October 26th, 2025, at The Kensico Cemetery and Arboretum in Valhalla, NY. The event, which brought together more than 230 participants of all ages from the community, raised $25,000 for the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester (BGCNW).
The occasion featured a 5k race and a 1.7-mile walk through the cemetery and arboretum’s vast 460 acres of fall foliage, followed by a catered breakfast, awards for the top participants, and raffle prizes.
The donation from the fundraiser will support the many programs the Club provides to nearly 1,000 children enrolled in Boys & Girls Club activities, including programs that promote water safety, nutrition, education, and athletics. As a result of these programs, 100% of the Club’s high school seniors graduated on time and continued to college, technical school, or military service for 16 consecutive years.
Speaking on behalf of the BGCNW, Alyzza C. Ozer, Esq., CEO of the organization said, “We are deeply grateful to Friends of The Kensico Cemetery for their generosity and commitment to our community’s youth. The funds raised will directly support our mission to provide a safe, enriching environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive. This partnership exemplifies how compassion and community spirit can come together to change lives.”
The event also furthered the Friends’ forever mission to preserve and foster public appreciation of the historical, cultural, and heritage of The Kensico Cemetery, something the attendees experience firsthand by walking the grounds during the 5k.
