This tour is a Friends of The Kensico Cemetery event.
For the first time ever, the Tree and Landscape Tour will be offered to the public as a part of the Kensico Cemetery Arboretum’s Level II Arboretum designation and public programming!
Tree and Landscape Tour 2: Thursday, May 30th, 2024 (1.1 miles)
On this tour, you will discover the wonders of the species that adorn their grounds and the intertwining of nature and history. Highlights include the battle against invasive species, a 170-year-old oak, and the enigma of “tree knees”. This tour will be hosted by Mike Cook, ISA Certified Arborist and Superintendent of Grounds at Kensico Cemetery.
The tours are free, but reservations are required via the RSVP feature below. Please double check that you have selected the correct tour & date.
Details and Directions: Tour attendees should go to the Kensico Cemetery Administration Building where cars will be led to the starting point on the Kensico grounds. We do not recommend using Kensico’s address as a GPS locator. It will take you to our Maintenance Building on Lakeview. Look for the event directional signs, and staff will be on hand for check-in.
Restrooms at the Administration Building are open before the tour begins, we will have bottled water available, and we recommend comfortable walking shoes.
Friends of The Kensico Cemetery, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization formed to promote and advance the welfare of The Kensico Cemetery through historical preservation and education.
