Tree Root Systems Lecture & Air Spade Demonstration April 18, 2026 | 10:00–11:15 AM
Tree roots are the engine of the tree — yet they’re often the least understood. This free seminar covers how roots grow, how soil conditions affect root health, and how improper care impacts long-term tree survival. The program includes a live air spade demonstration showing how arborists safely expose root systems to assess and address common problems.
Ideal for home gardeners, landscapers, and green-industry professionals. Participants are encouraged to bring questions and wear comfortable shoes, as the program includes walking to outdoor demonstration locations.
Led by: Michael Cook, Jr., ISA Certified Arborist & Superintendent, Kensico Cemetery Frank Molina, ISA Certified Arborist & Branch Manager, Davey Tree Experts, Inc.
Coffee and donuts will be available. Rain date: Saturday, April 25.
Donations are appreciated and can be made online here or by check made out to Friends of The Kensico Cemetery, Inc.
This program is free and offered as part of Kensico Cemetery’s designation as an ArbNet Level II Accredited Arboretum. Advance registration is required.
